I think the soap opera vibe is exactly what made it quite amusing. However, that thread is like Stella Street as oppossed to Conronation Street.
Just lots of vaguley purile humour being spouted in the corner shop, so to speak. What the fuck is your problem Jay? If you don't like it, don't go there. How simple is that?

Those people who know me know that my musical tastes are a lot more seated in punk tham glam so I dont really have much inclination to read say, a Peppermint Creeps thread. It doesnt make it any less vaild or readable to the person who posted it or the folk who wanna log in a read it.
Horses for Courses, and all that?

Get wound up about something that matters, for god sake, and stop throwing your toys out the pram over nothing. The Fruity thread is full of shit, granted. Its also 40 pages long and that says it all.

And to bring a small perspective here. I am one of the few people on this site who actually works in the music business as a salaried proffessional. I deal with music and bands 6 six days a week, sometimes 16 hours a day. I am allowed to spend time chewing the fat about things other than music, even if it is just silly bollocks. Is that alright?

Cowboys shirts? Do you mean the Sid Vicious one?

<font size="4" face="Arial">Angry, are we? All those edits, tsk-tsk. Don't check into the Chelsea anytime soon!

Anyway, I wasn't attacking the Fruity thread for its soapishness, which it did have a bit of for sure, mainly in the logevity and sarcy banter. This board had gotten soapish quite a bit before you and your contingent showed up at all, and I wasn't even referring to that thread. I was mainly referring to various board wars that went on for who knows how long. As for soaps themselves, I'm a bit of a fanatic for them.

Again, I was mainly commenting on the fact that that thread has lasted so long and become an institution in itself whilst music threads die after a few posts. Yes, a non-music thread is allowed, and you are posting to one of the greatest non-music posters that has ever been on this board!

In its own way, that thread is actually funny!

Your background is in punk? I admit, I loathe punk and all of its fascistic/anarchistic/petit-lumpen bullshit, especially from the old hippies who created it in the first place. As for the shirt I mentioned, it was the shirt of Viv's that the poor junkie John Simon made infamous. Yes, the two cowboys getting each other sexually aroused. That was a Tom of Finland illustration. He was a homosexual Nazi collaborator and his drawings were of his Nazi "friends".

You actually work in the biz qua biz. Okay, you can joke on a thread or three, never said you couldn't.
I have a few stories I could tell, but I have had enough of net insanity and keep them to myself.

Oh yes, I'm going to continue this thread as it was started.

    Question

Where's my reply to Carl? Is this board acting up again?

I'm not angry. Im a Buddist at heart. Maybe you think that means a nappy wearing alfa alfa munching liberal lefty pigmy child eating lesbian? Who knows what is going on in your head?

Please do keep your thread going. There is no need for me to log in if I don't want is there?

As for edits, I'm a little dyslexic and I type real fast. I have to go back and spot mistakes.

Chelsea? What you gonna do? Run me over in your 4x4?

Well, I think you have me confused with Lycan regarding all that silly drivel you spouted about me. I know another board where the regular posters tend to be just like the kind of idiot you apparently want to paint me as. I saw the bullshit in punk before it even became more that the antics of some junkie boho cranks such as Tom Miller and Richard Meyers. I was glad when people who had been wasting their time with punk finally decided that burning yourself with cigarettes was no substitute for actually playing music. I actually liked a lot of the bands that were around: Marionette, et cetera. Yes, that does include a certain band led by an "arse!"

As for the 4X4 comment, that makes me think of the soap,"Bold and the Beautiful." You know, the "Forester" is both an SUV and, albeit with differnt spelling namely two Rs, a family on that show. Funny thing. Ronn Moss, who plays Ridge Forrester, is this rugged type who had a few recordings under the band name of Exile, which was from UK. Hey, is he related to Kate Moss by any chance? A 4X4 is also a board, which makes me think of Kate Moss herself!! A long time ago when I was in UK, I actually knew someone named Moss, whom I used that old line about gathering no Moss on them.

BTW...The best thing ever written about punk was the Mad magazine parody of the SP's USA tour. Those shits being tied to stakes and burnt to cinders was hilarious! Their "funeral" consisting of their ashes being dumped into indidvidual dustbins with each name on it and then dumped into a dustlorry was fucking hilarious! I'm only sorry that it didn't happen in real life!

As for the Chelsea comment, when I was a boy genius in NYC, I used to rent a room there when I was working late and couldn't get back to where I was staying on LI. Funny thing, it was the room that DownLow Ramone was pictured on the balcony of, right by the neon sign. Haha...I knew Patti Smoth from there. I also knew Edie Sedgwick, Ingrid and Viva Suoerstar and the rest of the Warhol crowd. You know, the Chelsea girls!
